Description
Minton Pierced Pigeon Centre Piece. The moulding on this piece is so precise. This actual piece is slightly more delicate than the one's produced later. We believe that this piece is one of the first to be produced, hence the colourway in the centre of the bowl. I have yet to see another one with this beautiful green interior. The pigeons too, are beautifully painted.

" A basket supported by a male and female in the style of Clodion."
(Clodion was a French sculptor whose works represent the quintessence of the Rococo style. Born 1738 died 1814 Paris.)
Possibly designed by Albert Carrier, who was an artist and sculptor in the mid nineteenth century, who worked for Mintons, as well as other factories, including being Artistic Director at Sevres. Napoleon was a huge fan of Carriers, and referred to him as "Our Clodion"
